THANKFUL THURSDAYS WITH JC

Jen here....

I love this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson..."Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I think the point is well made; Step out on faith and make a difference!

As a Christian, I don't have to fear forging new trails because Psalm 119:105 assures me "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." Through His Word, I have the Lord as my guide! The path may be unknown to me, but the creator of the world knows the way!

Where do I need to go today that there is no path? Where do I need to make my trail? Wherever that path may lead, the Lord will guide me if I study His word!

Father God, thank you for your guidance. Though I may fear leaving the established paths in my life, I thank you for the knowledge that you will lovingly lead me. My trust is in thee, that I will not founder and stumble in darkness as you will light the way for me! Let the steps that I choose bring glory to you.

In Jesus name, Amen.

TUESDAYS WITH TIZ

Delighting our King

"The Lords delight is in those who honor him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love"
Psalm 147.11

Just think - The Lord is delighted when I put my hope in His unfailing love. He is honored when I rest in His unconditional, unfailing, unchanging Love.

When I put my hope in His unfailing love, I am not struggling to stay on God's good side. I am not condemning myself for not measuring up to His expectations of me. I have learned that my Father's love for me has nothing to do with how good I am, but has everything to do with how good He is!!! That fact alone motivates me to be about my Father's business.

If I want to honor the Lord, I stop focusing on myself and instead rest in His unfailing Love. Then my King is delighted with His Princess!!

"Father, I thank you for your unfailing love for me. I thank you that I can put my hope and my dreams in you. The thought of you being delighted in me almost overwhelms me. I pray your blessings and your rest on each person reading this post today. In Jesus unfailing name, I pray" Amen

Easter, 2009
ALIVE IN HIM

This coming Friday Christians all over the world will observe Good Friday and then on Sunday we will celebrate Easter. Easter is my favorite holiday of the year - right up there with the 4th of July!!!!

These past few days I have been thinking about the true meaning of Good Friday and Easter. What happened and where do I fit in? I believed and received the good news of what was accomplished for me on Good Friday long before I had an understanding of what was accomplished for me on Resurrection morning. Oh, I believed that Jesus rose again from the dead and I believed He was alive but I did not understand that I was ALIVE IN HIM.

On Good Friday He was "wounded for my transgressions and crushed for my iniquities and by His stripes I was healed" Isaiah 53:5 - my sin debt was paid in full!!! He even "bore my sorrows and carried my grief" Isaiah 53:4 - remember that the next time your heart is broken.

On Resurrection morning He arose from the dead to give me His Life.
I was raised with Him to walk in newness of life. "He is my life" Colossians 3:4. Friends, join me this coming Sunday in celebrating Him as our Life. Yes, He is Alive!!! and we are ALIVE IN HIM!!!! Glory!!!

"Father, I truly thank you for all that was accomplished for me in your death, burial, and resurrection. Father, I pray that I will never forget the price that was paid for my salvation. Bless each person reading this post today with your Easter Love. In Jesus Glorious name, I pray" Amen.

THANKFUL THURSDAY WITH JC

WORDS, WORDS, WORDS, WORDS, WORDS
We speak and think thousands of words every day. I tell young people the most important words they speak aren't spoken at all. They are the words they tell themselves about themselves. That recording that plays over and over inside of us.

Jesus said, "For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34).

Every time we speak, we either advance the kingdom of life, or we advance the kingdom of death.

I know people who are careful about the words they speak to others and about others. However these same people, speak word of death about themselves . I had this tendency but praise God I realize who I am as a child of God. Who am I to criticize His handiwork.

I hand a young person a slip of paper with the words "I am _____". I asked them to fill in the blank, then we talk about the power of our words. Words that build up or encourage physically make us stronger. Words that tear down physically weaken us. This has been proven scientifically and we do an exercise to prove it. We then discuss the fact that we want to be strong so we are going to speak words that build up. We want to think and speak words that make our friends, family, teachers and ourselves strong.

So how about you, are you speaking words of life about God's handiwork (yourself) to yourself and others or do you waste time and energy in being critical of yourself ? Are you limiting God's ability to work in your life by the words you speak? Think about it.

Father, how awesome you are. How worthy you are to be praised! Worthy of my loyalty and adoration! Yes, adoration; I adore you! Thank you for reminding me of this workshop on the power of words. Father, I pray that anyone reading this post that maybe critical of themselves will realize that they are criticizing YOU because we are made in YOUR image. Thank you for changing my life when I changed my words. Lord, if it pleases you, minister to others through my words. In Jesus' precious, powerful and holy name I pray. Amen
