Tuesdays with Tiz

Happy Thanksgiving

"Enter into His gates with Thanksgiving and into His courts with praise, give thanks to Him; bless His name." Psalm 100:4

JC, Jen and Tiz wish you and your family a very special Thanksgiving Holiday.

God has richly blessed our family this past year....both with abundance and adversity....giving us the privilege of thanking Him and trusting Him.

JC has a new husband (Nov. 21) and our entire family rejoices with her. Jen and Tiz are thankful for the husbands they have loved for many years (Jen 18...Tiz 55).

We have a new niece, Olivia, who is just beautiful...a precious Princess....and again our family rejoices and thanks our King for her.

Our family has seen God work mightily during a time of adversity for which we are very grateful...not only for the outcome but for the privilege to rest in and believe His Promises."In all things give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." 1 Thess 5:18

We truly are thankful for you, our readers, for without you there would be no reason for God to put a message on our hearts to share with you. "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you." Philippians 1:3

"Father, I thank you for who you are today. I thank you for the good times and the bad times, for the times I understand you and the times I do not understand you. Bless our blogging friends with thankful hearts this Thanksgiving Day. In Jesus name, I pray." Amen

TUESDAYS WITH TIZ

Biblical Vitamins

I think all of us want to look and feel our very best. As Christians, our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Our bodies are His dwelling place....how awesome is that !!!!

A lot of "how to" books are written about how we can take care of ourselves and live healthy, productive lives. Eat right, exercise and stress control....like it or not....90% of the time there is our answer!!! I am not going to tell you what to eat because you already know that, right? And exercise , you know what you can do and what you can't do and what you should do, right?

So, let's look at stress control. I have come to believe that stress and worry are our number one enemies. Our bodies just are not designed to be over stressed. Worry is not worth what it does to our body, soul and spirit!!!

Join me this week and take your "Biblical" vitamins. Let's see how this changes the way we look and feel.

When ANXIOUS, take vitamin "A".... "all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

When CRUSHED, take vitamin "C"...."casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you."

1 Peter 5:7

When DEPRESSED, take vitamin "D"...."draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you."

James 4:8

"Father, you have so abundantly given me these vitamins to take and enjoy. These vitamins are YOU!!! I pray for each person reading this post as well as for myself. Give us a hunger and a thirst for you and your Word so our lives will not be overcome with worry and stress. In Jesus calming name, I pray." Amen

TUESDAYS WITH TIZ

Burnt Biscuits

I am always attracted to articles where I see someone showing grace to someone else and this article does just that. I am not the little girl in this article but I was blessed to be raised in a home where this easily could have been my Dad showing this kind of grace to my Mom. Let this article bless your heart.

When I was a little girl, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how my day was at school. I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that biscuit and eat every bite!

When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget what he said: "Baby, I love burned biscuits."

Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Your Momma put in a hard day at work today and she's real tired. And besides a little burnt biscuit never hurt anyone!"..........author unknown

Friends, let's look for some way we can show grace to another person today. Let's take the good, the bad and the ugly parts of our life and lay them at the feet of Jesus. Because in the end, He's the only one who will be able to give us a relationship where a burnt biscuit isn't a deal-breaker!!

"Father, I thank you that you always show Grace to me. As a result of you showing Grace to me, I long to show Grace to those around me. In Jesus Name, I ask you for Grace to do just that. In your Grace Giving Name, I pray."Amen

Be Still

"Be still, and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10

Being still is not a time when our minds are blank. It is a time when our minds are filled with Him. It is a time when we meditate on Him and Him alone. In the stillness, the cares of this world fade away as we rest in Him, knowing He knows our every thought and He understands everything we are feeling. In the stillness, we experience His unconditional love and acceptance.

My Friends, coming aside and being still does not just happen. It is difficult to set aside time to be quiet when all around us is busyness and chaos. I have found that "the news does not have to be watched"...my favorite book can be closed...face book will wait...in fact; my computer can be shut down if necessary!!!OUCH!!!

Personally, I must come aside, be still, and "come into His presence" if I am to survive and enjoy my Christian walk. Ten or twenty minutes are great, but, hey, two minutes is better than nothing.

"Father, I thank you for the joy of coming into your presence and just letting you love me. In your presence is where I feel secure and at rest. I pray that someone reading this post today will have a burning desire to just be still and enjoy You. In the precious name of Jesus, I pray." Amen
